There's an unfortunate story behind my 03 so skip the next part if you don't want to hear a sad story!
This 03 was my dads baby/track toy. He actually passed away in it, in the hot pits after a lapping session. He had a heart attack and when he passed, his leg went limp and slammed the gas pedal down. Apparently it was @ WOT for some time before people realized and coolant overflowed.. which was the reason for the coolant pressure test.. (and as a testament to the block, no pressure drop was found even after an hour..)
It has a tweaked IA 600 kit, basic H&R coils, DS3000 pads, and techart bits here and there. I'm getting rid of my Subaru STI as my track toy and turning this one into the track toy.
Here is the car in it's "Street trim"
So as I'm a new owner, it's time to start my research!
Cheers!
Sounds to me like your old man died doing what he loved. IMO, you own a lucky car passed on to you by someone near and dear. That's a groovy story in my book.
Thanks! It does have a GT2 nose w/ CF inserts! Yes, the car is "new" to me, so to speak. There's an unfortunate story behind my 03 so skip the next part if you don't want to hear a sad story! Picked it up a year ago w/ 13k miles on it (dbl'ed that already). Working with SamboTT to deal with the mechanical upgrades soon. And yes that is a hardtop. I couldn't track down a red one (have now...thank Jebus) but found black ones online everywhere for $500 with minor scratches so I plastidip'd it. Came out great so I rattle can dip'd the mirror housings, wing, and intakes. Car is clearbra'd so the normal bra doesn't scratch the paint but adds another layer of cushion to anything hazardous to the bodywork. Grills are Mina but I used black zip ties as they are easier to install with and can be hardly seen. The guys at Mina were nice enough to let me have extra neoprene to use as a door guards (my idea) as I have steel pallet racks in the garage and don't want to chip the doors.
decided not to attempt to install the CSF rad + coolant flush/etc myself. As I won't have to do this job again in the future, decided best left for a shop which has done it many times before..
here she is "in the wild" taken this past weekend! this thing actually has more done to it than i realized.. one thing in particular which has put a big smile on my face is a lighter flywheel!

Yup- spacers.. I dont recall the exact spacer widths but the rear looks to be a 15mm+ and the front an 8-10mm? I'll have to pull it off and see. I'm slowly discovering more and more parts my old man put on as I'm "restoring" it
