Wheel and tire widths - help!

So I'm going to finally get some new wheels and tires - 18" Fikse Profil 10s with PS2 tires. Now I just have to decide on widths.

Is there a general consensus as to how wide you can go without worrying about rubbing, etc.?

I think that up front a 235 tire on a 8.5" wheel and a 315 tire on an 11" wheel in the back is a pretty common setup right?

Or should I go as wide as possible and just get the fenders rolled or whatever ever little mods would need to be done?

315 in the back is pretty much it right? ... and as far as I know a 235/40/18 and a 315/30/18 is almost a perfect match. Going wider on just the front would mess that up wouldn't it? Or is it OK to run a 245, 255, etc. up front with a 315 in back?

Decisions, decisons ... made even more difficult when you just don't know a whole lot about this "stuff" hehe. I just want to do it right the first time around, so any input is appreciated!

I think that a good compromise might be 235 on a 8.5" wheel in the front, and 315 on an 11.5" wheel in the back. But I'm no expert ... let's see what the others have to say ...

I'm getting some PS2s myself and so I was just checking out the specs on the tires. For a 235 they recommend an 8 to 9.5" wheel, and for a 315 they recommend a 10.5 to 11.5 in wheel. So the most logical thing to do is get the biggest of the range, which would be a 9.5" wheel in the front and 11.5" in the rear. Maybe some of the experts could chime in and let me know if this idea is flawed?

In my experience very wide front wheels have more aerodynamic drag, more steering kickback, follow grooves more, and have less straight line stability on bumpy roads. I like the idea of GT2 sized wheels/tires (8.5 and 12"). I'd think a 12" rear wheel with a 315 tire would be OK since that's what a GT2 runs. Since these cars are so tail heavy I'd try to max out the rear tire/wheel size.
