Clunking sound from driver front axle

Hello all,

I am hearing and feeling a clunking sound from the front driver side axle when I am backing up in reverse. Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you're lucky, it's the brake pads shifting in the caliper. You would hear it only once then. Other possibilities are CV joints and wheel bearings. Those would be more continuous and periodic noises.

Also check that the sway bar drop link bolts are tight.

Good luck.

take a look at the drive axle as well, my brother just snapped his on the x50, pretty much the only thing stock on the car and couldnt handle the 640+ hp. he described the same sound. its worth a look.
