I think the deal on Turbo headers is;
1. Get it to the turbo's as fast as possible (lag).
2. Try to accelerate the gases right at the impeller wheels (merge collector).
3. Thou shalt not create back pressure.

And that pretty much covers it. If you can put something together and verify it on a dyno then aesthetics and esoteric maths just don't count.

Just a quick question I have though is why not do some heat coating on that stuff? Out of curiosity you know?

Oh, and another quick question while I'm at it; with the 3.8 litre do you have problems with anchoring the case sides as in the old air cooled days?
