Audison Amplifier Lrx 6.9

I am replaicng the stock unit with a Pionner Z1 unit, and at the same time I am also replacing the front and rear speakers as well.

I have located an Audison Lrx 6.9 amplifier and I am wondering if anyone here have experience with Audison and do you think using this amp to power the front & rear speakers and may be a 10' sub in the spare tire is a decent idea?

I have an Audison LRx 2.4 powering my 2 8"subs. The amp is custom installed in a flush-mount enclosure directly above the spare cover in the front trunk. Both the amp enclosure and factory spare tire cover lift for access to the spare and tools.

The 6.9 may not have the punch you may want for your sub(s). 280 Watts seem kinda low for subs.

Depending on whether you want some bass out of your satellites (4 sets of speakers), I suggest running 50-100 watts per channel and at least 500ish watts for your sub(s). I am a big fan of 4" satellites running minimal bass paired with two 6.5 - 8" and one 10-12" sub. I find this setup to be crisp while the small and big woofer combo, when crossed over properly, will be tight and deep at once. Of course the 996 has limited sub space, so you will need to plan accordingly.

BTW Not sure if already have the Z1, but i think the Z1 has been superseded by the Z2. Also there has been some talk here that the Kenwood may be superior to the pioneer.

i have this amp. it can do exactly what you said. extremely flexible amp, with many possible configurations. i have a 3 channel setup (200+ wrms x2 to the front + sub).
you would use the 5 channel and go 75x4 + sub.

the only issue would be what sub. if you have a jl audio w7 this isnt the amp for it. However if you sub is a descent- medium quality sub then you will have no issues what so ever.

regarding "sub in spare tire section". Never seen this done. conventionally subs are in the back/trunk of the car.

Thanks for the feedback. Have you tried the 5 channel set up? If you have, what are your thoughts in this setup? In terms of location of sub, I will only consider fitting it in the spare tire location as I don't want the sub to stand out and try to maintain a clean look as much as possible. And with the 5 channel set up, what kind of sub would you recommend? I don't listen to heavy metal or rap or heavy bass music at all and most of the time it is soft music playing within the car.

kcphuah, I have the Audison Lrx 6.9 in 5 channel mode and it sounds awesome. I simply replaced the subs in the factory sub enclosure with 6" SW's and I would do it that way again. The spot is already there for them, it looks OEM, sounds good, etc. No need to reinvent the wheel, IMO. However, I am not a big bass user, so it's more than I need for bass. I like the Audison...

just like john D said. go for the rear shelf. perfect location for a couple small subs. ESPECIALLY if you are not a bass freak. either stock bose box with upgraded drivers or a custom (stock bose size) from caraudioinnovations.com
i will strongly recommend against front trunk unless you are trying to fit a big sub, discretely.

only way to tell if it will sound great is if your drivers/speakers are great. also a good overall setup configured properly is imperative to achieve clean reproduction. in terms of power delivery, i have absolutely no complaints. this is one of the best 6 channel amps ive ever had. Only issue i have with it is at peak-summer time, overheats relatively quick (after 45 mins of highest level usage). I will call audison about this.

John have you experienced anything like this?

No, but I have not used it in the summer yet.
