Predictions for future 996 TT depreciation
Badger, do you see me going on the Beemer Forum asking members what their cars will be worth in 3 years time? Get a Grip!
If your not interested what is the point of posting here?
Here you go, they will be worth $25k in 3 years, that's still to much for you.

Sorry but you don't get it. A 996TT is not a 930, 964T or 993TT and never will be. A 996TT has amazing performance but it was the first of the mass-produced turbos and, like it or not, doesn't stand a chance of matching the long-term resale value of the air-cooled cars, regardless of it's performance abilities. $3X,XXX 996TTs are just around the corner.

A high mileage Tiptronic TT will be in the thirties in a few years, in that aspect you may be correct, what kind of car cant you find in the 30's? Does that make it a good car? You wont find a decent 996 TT in the 30's for quite a while, if it's bought in the 30's there is something wrong with it. Yeah, long term, the 993 is a commodity and collector car.
Are you really that insecure?
In that case I apologize, you have made yourself clear now.
In return, all I can wish you is a happy Porsche experience, with very little resale hit after you keep it for a while. The market for almost every car these days is terrible, all one can do is just enjoy the hell out of it!

That is all I can hope for myself.

It is not my website. It is the website of the Wisconsin Chapter of the BMW CCA.
It was stated earlier in this thread that there were less than 5000 996 turbos imported to the US. My search turned up a number of closer to 10000 turbos sold in the US. Then I thought I would see how many 993 tt's were imported. I did not find a number other than less than 5000 993tt's were sold worldwide! There is a reason why the 3 series is still selling for such a premium. For the 6 series,10000 total cars sold in the US will eventually mean that the really good, low mileage examples will become fewerand therefore more desirable. It is amazing what the 993 and even the 930 turbos sell for. These newer cars have indeed depreciated fast, but if you look at the history of most Porsches, they all seem to level out at some point, depreciation halts, and in rare cases ( 993tt being one ) values start to rise. Look at the early years of the 996 NA cars, there for a while it was looking like they were going to be selling for less than boxsters, It hasnt happened yet and it seems like they have reached a leveling off plateau ( a low one ) but they have not continued to drop like a rock as they were doing for a while.
For the people here who are thinking of buying or selling this is a good disussion to help with the decision .
Having recently purchased a 6tt, I can attest to the fact that a lot of the cars I looked at which were selling for the high 40's and low 50's were a tired bunch of poorly maintained , rode hard cars, with owners who did not treat them any better than the family daily driver.

It's 6604 coupes (I mentioned >5000). And you are absolutely correct that if you add the 2556 cabs as well, the total is 9160. (I stand corrected).
