Hi from new member
I can see that! I posted pictures with a separate thread yesterday. Hope you like 'em!
The stock system I have is for an X50. Is that enough of a low restriction setup? Also, do I have the option to just put in the stock muffler and keep the rest of the fabspeed? Would that resolve my issue? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
The stock X50 system has the same restriction as the rest of the 996tt. The older fabspeed systems (which are known to be well built but are loud and drone) are all one piece as is the factory system. The new fabspeed systems are modular with other fabspeed parts (ie cats/no cats/muffler/strait pipes). The closest thing to a factory system soundwise (without the all the back pressure) is the RUF and the Europipe quiet, which are both very expensive. I'd drive the Fabspeed around six months and then decide if you need to get more quiet.
welcome aboard. don't go back to stock exhaust, you'll regret it. The fabspeed my seem a little loud now, but you'll get used to very soon. I have an older fabspeed on my car and its loud, but i really don't hear it anymore and couldn't imagine going back to stock. I'd give it some time before making any changes.
Thanks! I posted some pictures with a separate thread called 'pictures as requested'. Check it out!

. Here's what I am thinking. I already got a stock exhaust and it's only cost a couple of hours labor to switch back. My fabspeed system has only about 12K miles on it so hopefully I can get some good money for it. Then in six months or so, I can pay the difference and go for a RUF or something else that is quiet but does not have the backpressure of a stock system. Does this make sense?
OK, thanks Onetime. I guess I get what I get! I think I am going to go ahead with the plan.
ditto
my stock exhaust is NEW (500 miles on it maybe) and I immediately removed it upon acquisition of my car.
