I have the whiining sound on my 01 turbo (62,000 miles) at start up. It goes away after a minute or so. Like others have said, it is the secondary air pump. Dealer wanted alot for the pump, so I asked if it was nessasary to do it now, and he said no, kudos for their honesty. Does anyone have a source to get one of these, dealer get a big mark up?

 

I was quoted $800 bucks from an online retailer here...

Although, I figured since I got extended warranty ... that it should be covered by that instead of coughing up $$$ ...
