um ya obviously , but ive seen some other guys claiming they has stand alones when in reality they were somwhat of a piggy back, i hope tym pulls through with it that would be great for everyone. i have seen his work ,and everything he does is top notch.
And John no longer uses Buschur motors....
It's not that difficult to run 9s in DSM or Evos... it only takes some money( about $22K)... A good amount of R&D has been done over the years... and Mitsu did the right thing by not changing the block when they went from DSMs to Evos... and that's where Subaru messed up... Funny though how the new Evos now have a Aluminum block... let's see how they will be making HP now... LOL welcome to the Porsche tuning world of 1.5 bars MAX.
All I can say that had we had a stand alone we would be running a lot faster then we all are...

Hi Mark, I keep hearing this, does Todd think this being true as well? The only reason a standalone would give more power is if Motronic is not well tuned, or if you are pushing the boundaries of your engine IMO.
As far as I know, no one uses the Motronic for speed compensated boost control / anti-lag / 2-step . All important features when it comes to creating a consistent drag time. Combine this with the lack of speed density offered and you start to push the limits of the stock ECU, standalone opens this up right away. Will a standalone be best for a daily driven K16 car, probably not, especially when you factor in the cost, along with hours of tuning to get thing right, however once you cross that 700 mark or start drag racing it will create a world of difference.
