Holy Body Roll Batman!!! (JIC's)

I was just looking through the picture albums from the Zone 2 event and my car was demonstrating some MAD body roll in almost all the pics. I have no idea which springs I have on the JIC's, but it cant be the good ones. I'm talking about lift the inside wheel almost off the ground kind of roll.

I'm VERY dissapointed.

Think I'm just going to ditch the JIC's. I see pics of Drews car in all the same turns without nearly as much roll.

Could it be the front sway bar? Drew do you have one? I have to do something to keep that other wheel on the ground, no wonder my car was pushing so.

I am about to get into things.....so this is frustrating as I was looking at JIC's to be the target.

With your concerns (albeit, you are much faster than I)...KWv3's...???? MOTON's. I would hate to spend x and find out 1.5x would have been the way to go in two years.....

I have to check my stiffness settings to make sure I didnt soften them when I went to the drag strip. The rear should be full stiff and the front 3 clicks from full stiff.

You can always get stiffer spring rates though so dont judge them by these pictures. Unless this is in fact the stiffest one. I want a different setup as well for the additional adjustability in terms of bump and rebound settings and such.

Let me do some research before you write JIC off, they have been working great, or at least I thought. I've been fast everywhere, but this is certainly NOT what you want.

need heavier springs. they are cheap and I just ordered a set to upgrade mine.
call Viper Bob 813 874 1911. I assume you have a rear sway bar upgrade.
also replacing my rear toe links to keep camber better.
call Bob he knows these set ups.
the actual shock has to do with bump and rebound control.

I just looked up the spring rates for the JIC's, the way they come from them is only 450lbs and 674 lbs.

That wont cut it for the weight of our cars. At least not in high cornering force situations.

Tom what are your spring rates?

jcb-memphis Mar 25, 2008 09:44 PM

Will do...

Tom what are your spring rates?

I think they are near double that. that is the way to go. but the valving comes set for different spring rates dont forget.
I had the next to heaviest springs and after VIR I am not happy either. but the springs switch out very easily.
the front sway will help also but is much more of a PITA to do.

I just checked, they are definitely full stiff in the rear. The battery is dead so I cant check the front.

Tom what are your spring rates?

If those are the real numbers, yes they are on the soft side. May be you got their kit for GT3s. :D SEAN_996 has JICs. I think he loves it.

I had the same springs as yours, Dez. 8kg and 12kg. If you switch to a heavier spring, I think you will be happy with the suspension. Changing the stiffness of the shock only slows down the ultimate compression and roll that is going to occur. Stiffer springs will lessen the roll problem. Your understeer problem may require adjustment in anti-roll bars and softening the front shocks a bit.

heavy what color are your springs?

vividracing Mar 26, 2008 04:19 PM

JIC is not your issue at all man. Give me a call and let me see if I can help diagnose or give you settings to run. I run the 8/12kg on mine with a rear sway bar, sway bar links, and control arms. Ask whoosh (Vince), he road in mine at Texas World Speedway, no issues.

My springs are purple.

Al, did you change your springs? If so, to what weight? When did you change them, did it have them while at Neils?

Ok Dan, I'll do that. Thanks.

BTW if you order your JIC's through me, we can do them in whatever spring rate you want. They do have an option for 10/14 and the valving is adjusted. Jon the owner of JIC KNOWS his stuff. I personally have never had an issue with mine at 8/12, but alot of factors to take into account: tire choice, speed, sway bars, control arms, how much I ate that day :)
