Ordering my CLS 55 AMG on Monday!

No, am I not getting rid of my 996TT! I just like having the AMG as my daily. It will replace my E55, however. The CLS has 476HP/516TQ. It also has 285 rear tires. Another comfy rocket. Pics on the link below.

Nice choice, and there is plenty you can do to make the CLS fit your style better through the aftermarket. The power upgrades are very abbundent for the 5.5L engine. Congratulations on the beautiful vehicle.

The E55 is a much better looking car.

It represents a new design direction for MB and slots in between the E and S size wise. The E's backseat is a bit cramped. I like the sportier look that the CLS offers. If the car arrives and I don't love it in person, I'll simply keep the E55. No downside here...

JK996TT,
i wasn't questioning ur decision

IMO it looks ''younger'' than E55 i'd take CLS just because of this. however, my point is i'd rather see a real coupe/cab version of it up against the 645ci... maybe in the near future??

I agree with the younger look part 100%. I would love to see a real competitor to the upcoming M6 and the CLK isn't it!

yea i like it because it looks just different from the MB-line. especially the mirror, lights & line. good direction. again, the style is a love or hate thing, at least it's different!

not what I would have choosen if I would ever drive a Mercedes... personally I like the SL55 and the E55 much better, but if I was going to drop the cash for a Merc, I would wait for the SL65 AMG to order. Nothing wrong with having 738 ft./lb TQ on tap!!! That thing is going to be a MONSTER!

I need the backseat...so the SL is out. I disageee with your "nothing wrong with 738 ft./lbs TQ on tap" comment. I already have an E55 and the 265's on the back can't even handle 516 ft. lbs of torque. I already think there's too much intervention with the traction control on my E55. I love the look of the CLS. It actually has the sporty look I wish my E55 had. I think the CLS will be a great seller for MB. I notice new cars seem to take a while to grow on people. This one was love at first sight for me.

I expect delivery early '05 based on what I've been told so far. I should know more tomorrow.
