EVO Stage 1
Stage 1
I agree with stephen, take the plunge. Why be a fast turbo when you can be the fastest!!!!!!!!!

Fastest or quickest car is not necessarily the most powerful at peak on a dyno either. Factor in " area under the curve " of the HP/TQ plots , unknown aerodynamics of aftermarket aero add ons, drag of upgraded bigger wider heavier tires and brake kits , etc. Heck, given the SAME car and exact driving technique, I will be faster than some of you because I only weigh 140 lbs- it's like some of you are carrying an extra passenger around your gut !
For now, I am fine with a stock motor that I know I can mash the throttle as often as I like w/o worrying about unknown thermal loads on the longevity of the motor and the rest of the drivetrain like driveshafts, diffs, seals and engine compartment heat soak , etc.

For every 100 lbs you lose on or in the car
that is good for a free .10 of a second...Free cheap HP.
That's why if one is to mod, one should at least get a total package. Different mods ( and brands of mods like exhausts or headers or custom turbos ) will add gains at different rpms so unless the ECU is fine tuned for the sum of them , you leave a lot on the table.

Todd,
I am in the process of installing the EVO DV's, EVO short shifter. I already have the unichip and fabspeed exhaust. If I want to go to a stage 4 with the K24's can you tune my unichip or do you recommend that I change over to the GIAC? Obviously cost wise it would be cheaper for me to keep the unichip and retune.
What would the cost be for the K24's and the retuning of my unichip? Or if you recommend switching to GIAC the cost of the K24's and GIAC? Installation cost? You can pm or email me if you want.
Thanks!
ps: I would like to publicly thank Todd and Stephen for being on this board. It is nice to have the actual tuners involved in this forum. Thanks guys for sharing here and for helping us all with our horsepower addiction.
Hi, my name is Buddy and I am a horsepower junkie!

I can't tell you how many guys around here (Atlanta) are only concerned about what their "peak" horsepower/torque is, all for bragging rights ("My car dynos at 390 Hp, yours dynos at 370...I've got the better/faster car"), when in fact the 20-30 Hp they gained from their last mod. shows up on the dyno from 6600-6800 RPM (with a 6800 RPM redline) and not at any other part of the power curve(s). Lots of good that does them.
