Looking for a PSS9 manual

I just installed PSS9's on my car. I want to know what the dial in instructions are. I viewed the dial in the inspection area for the rear shocks but noticed the dial is opposite in direction. I cant tell where the numbers should line up.

As for the front shocks, where the heck are those dials????

The front shock dials are on the bottom of the shock. Remove the rubber cap and you will find the dial. If you turn the front wheels all the way in one direction, you can access it without a lift. I may have a RUF PSS-9 manual, if you need a copy.

I'm confused...you need a manual to turn the dial? Turn them all the way to zero and you can feel the clicks (don't even need to see them)...and John has given you the location in the front.

Hi..... on the rears the clicks are made by having a backing nut ride on the adjusting dial. You need to turn the dial one way to stops then raise the jam nuts to the dial and zero it out then tighten the little set screw in the dial. If this is done right you will have a "clicking" sound when you turn the dial. Hope this helps, Tim

Pss9

I cant feel the clicks on the rear L shock. Not sure if its under sensitive or a faulty clicker...

Thanks for the location of the fronts...

On the rears, there is also a small blue line that lines up with the numbers to tell what setting you are on.

Guys, I pulled the RUF manual out of my glovebox and found it contains very little adjustment information. It is mostly installation instuctions for the RUF rear sway bar and the suspension in both German and English. The last page has the adjustment instructions, which state the following:

Instructions for force adjustment

*Position 9 = soft (clockwise direction)
*Position 1 = firm (counter-clockwise direction)

*During the adjustment, you will hear a positive "click" at each position of the adjustment.

Instructions for the front axle

*The adjusting element of the front strut is located at the bottom edge of the strut, covered by a blue plastic cap. That cap must be removed before adjusting. After adjustment the cap must be replaced again.

That's it...

I can vouch for this (not that John needs me to confirm what he clearly stated). I have installed PSS9 and PSS10 in my 993TT and 993TTS respectively and the "instructions" from Bilstein are minimal at best. When you open the box you find 2 pamphlets that get your hopes up but 1 contains TUV cert info and the other, while containing a 3 or 4 short paragraphs on install and adjustment, is lacking anything but the basics (no DIY pictures if that's what one is looking for). But it is translated into 30 or so languages

As John mentions above all you really need to know is that "1" is the firmest setting and the location of the adjusters. If I remember correctly the rear adjuster on the PSS9 is a small dial at the bottom mounted perpendicular to the strut v. the **** on the end of the front strut. In terms of adjustment the PSS10 allows a finer gradation of adjustment but "1" still corresponds to firmest and the locations are as John states in his post.

Actually, on the PSS10, 1 is the softest setting. God only knows why they reversed it!!!

"softness" is actually the wrong term. The settings are for dampening and not softening. They change the "speed/rate" of recovery. Some will argue the slower the speed/rate (setting 7,8,9 for PSS9), the softer the shock...not sure here.
