Clutch slave cylinder: if the accumulator goes, should this be replaced for sure?
Clutch slave cylinder: if the accumulator goes, should this be replaced for sure?
This is a slightly different topic than some others (Wyatt's) that are now active, and I posted it as a new thread so that the "gurus" among us might chip in.....
I have the accumulator and the slave in hand (new parts)....support from a fellow 6ser..sent to me before I even paid him. I don't want to use the slave if I don't have to do so...
Anyway, how much more time is the slave in the labor charge arena as my mechanic is going to do this one....and what can you do to diagnose if the slave is good or bad...how do you know it is bad? Part of me says just fix it all. Part of me says..save money as the slave may be perfectly fine....and I want to save money for other things (track wheels, tires, etc.).
Thanks!!!
Jeff

The accumulator can be R&R'd fairly easily but the slave is significantly more work. If you ar eon a budget, swap the accumulator and cross your fingers. But if you only want to do one job and are willing to pay more, do them both.
