How to diagnose a bad CV Joint

Hi all,

During a recent inspection my '01 Turbo was found to have a torn CV boot on the front.

I'm wondering how to tell if the CV Joint itself has been damaged.

I know on a fwd car, you can tell a bad joint by the "clunking" when you apply power while turning a corner.

I have no idea how to tell on an awd car, let alone an awd car that rarely applies any power to the front wheels...

Any comments, thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Nick
