Cooling fan no longer runs?

we installed stage IV GIAC chip, exhaust, bailey DVs, and a K&N last week.

After a hard drive yesterday i noticed that the fan that runs after the engine is shut off didn't run. Any ideas to why this could be?

One of two things. Either you have pulled a code. If so, disconnect battery for one half hour and then reconnect. Then idle car for fifteen minutes.

You will have to manually (hold the button) move windows down and up three times to reset memory on windows. Reset your clock and input your four pin numbers through your front panel control. If this is it then your fan will work. Or take it to your dealer.

The other item is the little sensor. It is easly to get to and replace. It is located on the right side (top) of your motor.

I have had problems with both. Usually the reset is required if you bump against your rev limiter hard.

When you bought your car , you should have been given a four digit PCM number along with a four digit NAV number. After you reconnect the battery, the radio or center module will not work. It will ask for your PCM number. Turn the lower left **** and depress it when the correct number shows. The display will say correct after you enter each number. After you enter the fourth number it wikk say "OK". Depress the know again and the radio etc. will now be operational again.

Steve,
The fans may not run all the time. It is based not only on engine compartment temperature, but also coolant temp. These are monitored by the ECU so it isn't just a switch that turns them on and off. If the ECU was to find a fault in the system then the temp warning would flash and the code P1674 and 1675 would be present. The fan should come on when the car is started for sure. Is this occurring?

the fans definitely would have run the way it was driven though. i am back east now but i sent this thread to my stepdad, he is trying the reset right now. it sounds like that's the problem, we did hit the rev limiter pretty hard once.

I've actually had the same thing since being chipped. Fan used to come on all the time after driving. Nowadays it just doesn't.. I even had them replace the temp sensor... So I'm not sure why, but it's not coming on anymore... Also I have ways to check for fault codes and I'm not throwing any.

OK, I will say it. Is it possible that the GIAC ECU reprogramming overlooked the triggering of the fan upon shutdown or any other time?

Ken, I doubt it, when programming the ECU those control perameters aren't part of the ECU tuning.

if you want to replace the OEM engine fan, is that still under warranty?

TIA,
EM

Not likely it is in the programming. I run the same profile of software and mine comes on when I am humping it. It may not do it the second I switch the key off, but normally within 5 minutes the fans will kick on. Most of that circuit is controlled by the CM instead of the ECU. the CM sends the command, the ECU receives the signal.

Same here, I don't know if it is normal, but mine doesn't come on right away, it takes 5-10 mins somtime longer, but it always comes on at somepoint.
