Intercooler upgrade needed?

When going from K16s to K24s or 24/18s is an intercooler upgrade a necessity or a "nice to do" ?

I've noticed several GT2 intercoolers for sale relatively inexpensive. Are these worth the upgrade? If not, what's the best option out there?

To be honest, just save for the EVOMs ones. The Blown6 ones have been plagued with problems recently, use an inferior core and end tank design, and the outlets use the same flawed clips as the OEM connections.

The GT2's are not worth the labor to change them, I have Blown 6 and have no issues with them, Call Dan @ Vivid I know he has some new ones that should be available. It is a mod that is nice to do...

I have the B6 and they did just fine for me.... Saved $$ and I got what I needed from them... IF i were going for 1000hp or some crazy set up then ask your tuner whats best....but for my K24/18g set up from Todd... B6 was the best bang for the buck....!!

The GT2's are not much better then the stock TT's.If you get them cheap and i mean cheap then sure put them on, but for the amount of work it takes to install them you should do it once and do it right. For k24's the stock ones will be fine

I AGREE.... waste of time on the GT2 ones... take a look at some pics to compare... same crap practically... So why bother.... I wouldnt do the swap even if they were free.... with shipping and customs if any the B6 ones are 2k or less so.... why NOT????
You know....
You'll notice on hot summer days the diff with the IC's.... Car runs like a nice spring evening on hot summer days... to give you a better understanding of what they will do.. TURBOS need the cool air or else you'll feel like you are driving a sled. lol

If the horsepower of the engine will exceed 650 and the car will be used hard at the track, you may want to consider buying an intercooler manufactured by Honeywell's "Societie d'Etudes et de Constructions Aero-Navales" (SECAN) located in Vendome, France. They supply Porsche race intercoolers.

I have a contact that can get them. Extremely expensive.
