Shifters?
Hey guys,
Just a heads up that these shifters are hitting backorder right now. If you were interested in getting one, now would be a good time to get your order in so that when the next group that hits the states, one will have your name on it.

997 Shift Console Upgrade

I did mine probably a month ago. PM me if you have any issues, but use the B&M illustrated install tutorial for their shifter as it tells you the sequence to remove the console.
It is really a no brainer job- 30 minutes to an hour tops!

Just had my 997 shifter installed and what a great upgrade. This is how it should have been from the factory. Tight, precise, and shorter. The B&M SSK that I put in my old 993 was not as nice as this. Thanks Suncoast for a great deal.
My 997 Shifter arrived this afternoon and it's already installed. Huge improvement in feel and slight reduction in throw. Coming from a 993TT, the stock 996TT shifter feel was a disappointment. After a quick test drive, I'm really happy with it now. If you are careful, take your time, and have all of the needed tools, it should take right at an hour.
Here are some tips that are not in the directions.
1. Write down which window switch goes to which connector. It's not obvious when you are putting it back together. One connector is white and one is black.
2. The new shifter comes with a clip on top to hold it in the neutral position. So, you really don't need to mark the shifter cables prior to removing the old shifter. Just make sure to put the old shifter in neutral before poping the cables out and then just pop them in the new shifter wherever they land. It will make sense when you see it.
3. The metal clips that hold the cables to the base were loose when I put it back together. After putting them on, give them a squeeze with some pliers to tight them up to avoid possible rattle.
If Suncoast runs out of shifters, try Sunset Porsche. Sunset had it in stock and was quite a bit cheaper too. I ordered a bunch of other stuff too (all the filters, filter wrench, belt, spark plugs, and several other misc items) so I'll be busy this weekend.
BTW: I tried to support Suncoast since they are a sponsor but they were 20-45% higher on each item. That's not right.

I also have a handbrake on order and would be interested in these instructions (for a 997 GT3).
Suncoast charged me $169 for the 997 shifter.
vv23, for $136 for the 997 shifter, you are crazy to put the stock shifter back in, but I'll sell you mine for $75, if that is really what you want.
If you think Suncoast is expensive, try a regular Porsche Stealership for prices. You'll be amazed at the difference.

My brother and I both just had the 997 shifter installed on our 996 turbos. Amazing difference. thorow is shorter and feel is notchier. Best thing to do is go feel the shifter of any 997, caymen, e.t.c and it is exactly the same. FWIW we paid with overnight shipping on parts and installation at local dealer 380 out the door each.
Just installed my 997 shifter. I had a b&m short and quickly noticed how much smoother the 997 shifter is. My b&m was very notchy feeling. The throw is alittle longer with the 997 but not enough to offset the smoothness. Thanks to sunset for the help with the parts.
