Well, I am no heretic or anything, but the Sti is one of my favorite cars and for the money it is one heck of a bang for buck car. I have a buddy who got an Sti for 35k and put a garret turbo, chip upgrade, intake and exhaust and he's cranking around 360 whp. Of course he paid about $9k for the upgrades, but that is lots of power for a 44k car.

Does the Sti stand a chance against the 996tt, no, not in stock form, but if it is built with 10-15k of mods it will be right up there with it. A stock 2001 996tt can be purchased for about $55k-$60k with decent miles. For $50k you can have a built Sti that will be up there with the 996tt.

I hope they video the race, as I would like to see how a heavily modded Sti stands against a stock 996tt. I just finished reading the second thread and with 417 whp, that modded Sti will have more Hp, but it is really going to be torque on that track that matters more. torque will probably be close on both cars, so they should be fairly even on the corners with the Sti having an edge on the straights and the 996 having the edge going into the corners.

It will probably come down to driver skill on this one. Should be fun to watch.
