It is possible to bubble a tire due to impact with no other visible signs inside or out. We see it daily. If the bead is that soft, I would have it checked out, too.
I was told by a couple tire guys down here that an impact to create as big of a bubble as I had would have made a cut on the inside and probably bent my rim (yes they were that big).

Michelin says to run stock pressures of 36/44. What makes you think this is "way too high?" Do you know more then they do?
I've just never ran temps that high and haven't seen people run them that high on other cars. You guys may be different, but everyone I know runs 32 cold, but then again, none of these cars are the 996 TT w/ these tires.

44 seems pretty excessive. That means that when it's heated up you are running around 40/48

That's too high. I run 36/38 on the street and quiet a bit lower at the track.

It's better to stick to the factory recommendation if you're on 19"s. On 18"s it's a diffrent story.

i didn't even realize he was running 19's. That changes the game probably.

But still, i'eve never heard anyone run the recommendation. I also thought the recommendation was the MAX PSI to run. 44 cold seems WAY WAY to high, that's 48psi warm. Most tires I know of can't handle that.

Man that's high...Porsche spec on N-Spec PS2's for the GT3 is 32F and 39R cold pressure.

Wow really? I don't know much about tire pressures, or cars for that matter ... I just like to drive 'em. But why would there be such a big difference between the GT3 and TT? I assume because of the weight and RWD vs AWD? I guess it's just a little confusing when Porsche and Michelin say to run 36/44 and then you have a bunch of people here swearing that's way too high. Hrm...

I bet it has to do with the fact that the published pressures for the TT are based on 18's N-Spec tires the car is delivered with. I don't believe 19 PS2's fit that bill, so all bets are off...Without a doubt, the 19's must be run at lower pressures than those spec'd for 18's in the manual...

I've got PS2s on my 18s and figured I'd start with the recommended 36/44 and so far it seems fine. I haven't had them on long enough to really say, so at this point I'm just trying to put some miles on the tires before I start messing with tire pressures and making any real judgements on the tires.
