Gumball3000 / Playersrun?
Guys, me and my friend are interested to join either Gumball / Playersrun. Which one is more fun? When is the next one going to be? How do I register and how much?
For those who had been in either Gumball or Playersrun, can you tell me more about it and how you feel about it?
thanks

Gumball for 2005 has been limited to 100 or so cars. They have also specifically said they have far to many: BMW, Benz, 911, and "common" Ferraries... Good luck getting in.
Players run should rename its self and just maybe I could enter with out feeling like total cheese dick...
BTW Gumball entry for next year will also cost you near 20K...a substantial jump from the 12-13k it was last year.
We should get a list running of all "Rallyes" and their associated costs, general layout, and advantages over each other.

They both SUCK!! I did the NY-LA Gumball, the concept is good on paper but sucks in reality.
Drive across country in a stickered out exotic with cops waiting for you, drinking and partying all night then drive 12-14 hours each day, for what?? NOTHING!!! Save your time and money, if you want an exciting driving adventure, set up your own with a few close friends and do it yourself, trust me, these events are SO over rated.

I've always wondered, why pay thousands of dollars if you just wanted to do the drive??
Couldnt you just join in with the group on the road? Grab a cheap hotel near theirs, get up early and be waiting for them...

not a flame, just a reply... apparantly you didn't catch the point to my comment. It's not about having money and being humble, which is something to be admired by some. My point was in regards to people who live beyond their means, buy $100k+ cars and then whine about spending $6k for a week of 5 star accomodations, partying at the playboy mansion, most likely getting laid with a supermodel, and racing super exotics on the road at over 150 mph for 6 nights in a row with DVD and pay per view coverage. Considering what you get for the money, it's not a bad investment in the grand scheme of vaction costs.

I did not miss your point... My point was just because someone does not want to pay 6K for hotels does not mean that they are living above their means by owning their car... The example I gave was just that, an example of someone that has no interest in cars so does not care what he drives... Not that they are humble... Different things matter to different people.
Now for me... That sounds like a hell of a vacation
