Question Any North East E55 drivers

Guys, please don't give me sh*t for this but no I don't drive the TT in the winter. I am thinking of getting an E55 to replace my Audi S8 and would love to know how the car is in the snow with winter tires. I would assume without changing the tires it would be pretty much undriveable. The new M5 is interesting but I hate the design. Also has MB improved their quality control, the Audi has been pretty much problem free. Decisions, decisions.

The E-Class does alright in the snow with snow tires becuase its heavy. Therefore on anything but a flat surface it has some trouble, but if your driving around the city you'll be alright. As with any car in the snow, its about driving smart and staying focused.

I second the RS6 suggestion just becuase it will power through snow rather than be a POTENTIAL hazard like the E55 could be.

Since the S8 is my second Audi I was hoping for something different but there are not many options when it comes to a high performance sedan that also works well in winter weather and I don't want another SUV. I'll check out the RS6.

I had an E55 for two months, I hated the car, bad steering feel, crappy handling, etc. I agree, checkout the RS6 it is AWD so it makes sense as a winter daily driver.

Had the '03 E55 last winter in New York-- it was useless even with snows - too much power --

I'll third that opinion..

I've got an 03 E55 and it is useless in the snow with or without snow tires.

Use it as a summer car, but forget trying to drive it in the winter.

Ok you guys convinced me, the E55 is off my list. I'm going to check out the RS6. Thanks for the info.

Just beware the RS6 is built on the old A6 series, the new A6 is almost or may even be out already. You will have a kick *** car but it will be a little out dated.

Yeah I just spoke to my dealer and he told me that Audi has not given dealers any timeline for making the RS6 version of the new A6 series. Hmm, this decision is not going to be easy.

The new A6 is out in Europe. I saw one at a dealer in London in June.

I would get an Mitsu Evo or a Subaru STi, they are AWD, handle like your Porsche(maybe better), have tons of power, take well to mods(turbocharged from factory), and would save you about 60K. Its not the best car in the world, but I bet you'd like it. And with the money you saved you could get an E500.

Very good idea and you can mod the **** out of those cars, that car is an awesome sleeper. WRX STI with mods is the way to go.

Took my friend's RS6 wagon out for a long spin. It's a rocket dog sled. No need to sacrifice anything. All-in-one package deal.
