talk me into it
Hey guys I'm going to look at an 04 turbo cab I will be trading in my 997 base carrera. I love my 997 it's lowered has short shifter full exhaust softronic flash aggressive street alignment. I am looking to go to the 996 because I really want a car with around 700 whp and can't gat any where near that with the 997. So I figure this is the best way to go.The one thing that's bothering me is that I like the 997 looks better but will the performance make up for that?
I'm happy to take you for a spin at the next NJ get together, but I'm only a lowly 600 crank. I was the seal grey 996TT at the Ikea meet. I took off early when the run in with johnny law happened.
By the sound of it you seem to be more of a performance oriented driver. If that is the case the TT is definetely the better car for you. There is no better bang for the buck then the TT. However, I would seriously consider the coupe over the cab if this change is truelly for performance. Good luck and have fun with your new purchase.
Then, get back in whatever car you own, the first thought is usually "holy SH#$%@ my car is slow"
But if your first thought is "well at least my car looks better," than maybe a 700whp car isn't for you...

my thoughts exactly. get the coupe.
Even though the cabs are fast too. I've seen one with an avg driver run 12.4@115 in a cab. So they are no slouch.
So if he's not a DE guy, nothing wrong with a little top down action. Put a ECU and exhaust and it gets even better.
you guys are great, all your posts make sense, and as far as the coupe cab thing this will be my 1st cab because I never wanted to sacrifice performance but now I have a little boy who would do much better in his car seat in a cab and I only get to drive this car now when weather is perfect anyway. Besides already talked to the shop they said they will have it stiffer then my 997. No worries. Thanks everybody.
haha good reply
Have you ever ridden in any 700whp car? I have, the only thought that goes through my mind is "holy SH#$%@ that's fast!"

I don't know how much you are planning on spending, but an 04 996TT Cab is pretty damn close in price to this:

I agree with all of the above, plus i think a 996tt is hands down better looking than a non turbo 997. I actually thought about buying a new 997 when i got my 996tt, but i was going to have to put a lot of money into it to make it look as good and almost as fast as a base 996tt.
