I took her out for a drive today for the first time after the wheel and tire change. I felt a noticeable difference in steering response and grip. The steering is almost too responsive. I lost over 10lbs per wheel of unsprung weight, and it really made a difference.
The tires stick like glue, I took an entrance ramp that I know pretty well, it's a hairpin to get on the interstate. Usually I can push her until I get a pretty good drift, but with the new rubber, they would not break loose, I pushed it and pushed it and they held.
The whole car just felt "lighter." Radial tire as usual did an excellent job mounting and balancing each tire. No vibrations at any speed up to 150 (that's as fast as I got). Loss of unsprung weight makes a noticeable difference, I was pleasantly surprised. If you're looking for a modification that will give you a noticeable improvement in steering response and handling, buy some lighter wheels in 18's, you'll be amazed.
