Since that thread has come up, I should mention, that I really don't want to hurt the reputation of the person who sold me these.

He's offered quite a bit of his time so far, talking with me about setup options, sourcing the extra parts I'd need for install directly, and offering to talk me through not only install, but setup track-side. So, I do want to give credit where it's due, and not let the seller be disparaged.

Still, my own standards for care of such parts are a bit different, and I do have some concern as to their condition. I dropped by TC Design over lunch, since they are an authorized Moton rebuilder. Tony, who does the rebuilds, is on vacation, unfortunately, but Joe, who installs/aligns them, looked some of the parts over. He also gave me some advice on what to check before installing. If I get the remaining parts needed before the weekend, like springs =), I'll proceed with the install.

You could quickly look yourself to make sure there is no oil leaking at the ends of the canister and the strut.

Do you know if he transported them with any pressure in them?
They're supposed to be pressurized right now... but that's one of the things I have to verify tonight. No oil puddles in the bin, but the towel does have that light tan stain reminiscent of oil. I don't know if it's fresh or old. I'll check all the parts carefully tonight.

man, I went through some issues and 5 months of dealing with getting things corrected. I'm sure you are going to have to rebuild them atleast a few of them. Mine were new and had to be rebuilt. Good luck!
Yeah, there was a before pic... It looked much better! =)

I actually wanted to do a quick rebuild before installing, but it doesn't look like I can get it done soon. So, I'll just try 'em as they are.

I hope the guys doing the install are your best friends. If you find anything wrong they will have to remove and reinstall and align everything. If you want to remain friends it might be prudent to just wait and get them rebuilt or atleast checked out.

Are there any other good Moton service shops (besides TC Design) in the norcal bay area?

Well, bad news...

Seller says all 4 nitrogen cannisters were pressurized before shipping. Only 2 had pressure when I checked last night. 1 of the low-speed damping adjusters is definitely not working (doesn't stop after 6th position, nor does it have the resistance when turned, of the other 3.) There's a fair bit of clean oil on the towels, and the box smells quite strongly of it.

All indications are that this kit, which is visually very beaten up, needs a significant service and repair.

Any recomendations as to which vendor has a good price on Moton Clubsports? =)

Call Fabryce at GMG. They are the single largest US Moton distributor. Tell him Colby sent you and he'll help you out.

BTW: I'm sorry to hear. Seems like luck is not on your side with used parts....Good luck!

I figured it'd be better to keep everything in writing (email), so there's no miscommunication... =)

IF you're buying a set of club sports, tell them you want a new set sent over from the motherland. I think there is a lot of the old, leaky inventory kicking around here. A Oak stated, it can be problematic.

Seems like you and Oak both had a lot of trouble with leaks with your new kits? I'd have gone nuts waiting as long as it took for resolution! I assume they're working well now?

I spoke to a couple of people. I think they said it's about 1 or 2 weeks to get a set from Holland. Since I can't install anything right away, it would be the end of next month before I could get to it again. By then, I might even find out if I can recover something for the suspect triples that I have now! =)
