USP MotorSports/EPL 1/4 mile times
To say the least I am not happy with my times, not because of my setup or tune but rather because of lack of testing on the new tire setup. The first pass on this setup netted a 1.75 60ft because I was rushed into the sportsmen lane and could not get a good burn out on the mickey thompson drag radials. Then when I shifted second it spun all the through and did not hook until 3rd gear. After that run I was warned to lift at the 1000ft mark because the car does not have a roll bar. Then on the second pass in addition to being hot lapped I didn’t get a decent in 1st gear burn so the tires did not get to sticky. I also stayed on the 2 step a little to long, so I spun 1st gear, and when I shifted into second, once again it went side ways, netting a bad 330ft time. Now all I need is some more time on the tire setup and find a track that will not hassle me for not having a roll bar. The mph was also a little slower then last week because of drag radials at 12psi and warmer and more humid weather. The tire setup is a 315/30/18 Mickey Thompson Drag Radial on factory wheels, with the center driveshaft disconnected with front differential and drive axles still installed.

Brother,
I don't think you have anything to be ashamed about. Your car is very strong and your 60' times are damn good. Heck, they're better than mine were when I ran 10's at 580 rwhp (600 on a Dynojet).
As you can see below on the timeslips and video, my best run was with a crappy 1.80 60' (I was on 295/35 BFG Drag Radials). I didn't even heat the tires up. I was RWD and on the stock suspension.
Anyway, your car is very strong and with weather better conditions, you'll definitely hit 10's.

Nice run. Interesting that Keith's car ran a trap speed of 134.5 mph back in March. Weather conditions were much better then I suppose and I don't think he had those heavy HREs on his car. The way you beat him I would have thought you would be trapping much higher, unless his car has gotten slower.

Scott, I was happy with the 60's, I do think I could pull 1.6's next time out, The main problem was my traction in 2nd (hince your 330 4.6xx)(to my 5.0xx 330) you dead hooked 2nd by the looks of that slip.
Scott, it looks like the day you ran was about 58 degrees is that correct?

IRT 60' times, I definitely think you can hit a 1.6x. Especially with MTs. I'm just too much of a chickensh*t to launch my P-car that hard.
Im just tlaking out loud... and I can tell you that my car hooks up with MT drag radials 275/40/17... so why would you have a hard time with a few hynders HP less? No burn outs here either.. just line up and go....
just a thought...

Are you sure it's not ur clutch heating/slipping up?

You where having clutch issues, if your clutch is slipping, not all of the power is making it to the tires versus the same clutch fully locked up. Chris's problem was the tires themselves spinning going into second, with the humidity/heat and tire prep it's understandable that he could continue spinning going into 2nd and the tire not catch up.
but we had a few runs where we didnt slip in 2nd.. etc....
I was just thinking out loud with a ton of work around me LOL

pretty decent times. i think most people want to know what their car will do when they take it to the track and drive it the same way they drive it on the street. at least, that is what i do. i would not go through the hassle of getting slicks, adjusting tire pressure, etc. I just want to know what my car will do at any given moment on the street when someone pulls up next to me and wants to run.

LOL and to think we used to test our race car at Steele and other AL tracks, if it hooked in testing there and ran a good number, we knew when we got to the race that it was going to turn some killer times and likely win, which it usually did.
