PTEC688 is infamous around these parts
I've seen it, but I'm in Michigan where you can fish in the potholes

Are those 19"ers? Go back to 18" for the protection a tire can give,
or drive around the potholes...

I had the wheel inspected by Zone's dealer in San Diego. It's a good news bad news story..

Good News: It's only cosmetic... it's the chrome finish that's broken away with no damage to the wheel itself. Probably the pavement refinishing in my area that did it... My fault because the air pressure was 38psi instead of the 44 I usually run.

Bad News: I will have to replace that piece of the wheel or have it refinished... either way will be $300 - $500 bucks.

More Bad News: It will take about a week, and this is my DD.

Anybody in San Diego have a 19X12 rim they could loan me for a week??

Well I highly doubt running 38psi instead of 44psi is the cause. If your car is still under warranty, I would call it a faulty wheel and try to get it replaced for free.
