I looked at the video again. It does NOT say it was a turbo S. It says "911 Turbo Tiptronic S" They clearly state throughout the whole video that it has 420 hp (and even lists it visually as 420 ps). If you look at the time attack video, and the super battle the rear bonnet has the "turbo" script on the back, but no "S" behind it. This is a "regular" turbo that they are racing.

By the way, the Murcielago driver was Akihiko Nakaya, the regular host of Best Motoring, not a first time driver. It was the first time he has driven in the Murcielago, but he has been in pretty much every Best Motoring Video ever made. The Person in the Gallardo was Takuya Kurosawa, the guy that drove the Gallardo throughout the entire evaluation portion of the video. Both Best Motoring veterans.
So there is a regular tiptronic, and a tiptronic s?

As for the Murcielago driver, thats what i meant. First time in the Murci.

There is only a tiptronic.

Tiptronic = Tiptronic S

"Tiptronic S" is Porsche's terminology for their 5 speed automatic transmission. Like Scott said Tip S = Tiptronic. I think when the Tip first came out it did not have the "S" designation, but it does now. When it first came out they had like 12 different shift maps, now they have like 40 something. It's a bit improved from the original (software change). The driver at the end did say that with the Tiptronic it did cost him some time as he could not "engine brake" in the mid-speed corners.

In an ideal world they probably would have had a GT2 or GT3 out there, and judging from the previous BM GT3 video it would have done better. But they are probably just usuing whatever car they can get in Japan.

So, no, your almighty Gt2 will not, beat a Murci, on any track, any place, as the results which you reffered to, are well documented already as not being true.
What part of that is well-documented Allan? That list was posted on an internet message board by member "ajzahn" who says he got the list from a guy named "Guibo". That is in no way well-documented, you just found some website where the Murci time is faster than the GT2s. Congratulations, you are indeed the weakest link

I could go on and on as to why Allanlambo's purported facts are flawed and such... but, why bother. There is no need to convince this audience, we all know he is just a troll.

Regardless of who's faster, I have to admit that those pics of the Murcielago are downright awesome

Those numbers are right, but test results vary depending on condition. For example, a 2004 GT-2 was timed at Hockenheim, 1.11,6 s See http://www.einszweidrei.de/ for a comprehensive list with references to the magazine tests.

I'd say both cars are very fast and it would likely come down to the driver skill in any practical situation

I think a Carrera GT is a better comparison to the Murci....On a track, any track...the CGT will slay the lambo no matter who's driving it. Lambo's are not race cars!! They are cool bling cars and that's it.

A $500 chip will change all those times in favour of the GT2. $500 = 65hp. From that point forward...the Murcielago is toast.

Plus, the GT2 beat both Lambo's around the Nurburgring. Of course, you then go and find a time that was faster from another source. If I searched for another source, I'm sure I could find a GT2 time that was faster than the Murcielago's Sport Auto time.

I love Lambo's, but you really are extremely myopic and biased. You said a bunch of things in your original post that were totally erroneous. And then when someone calls you on it, you say "Oh, I meant something else"..."Ohh..that's not what I meant". It just so happens that your original post was skewed towards the Lambo's in EVERY way.
