Plus, the GT2 beat both Lambo's around the Nurburgring. Of course, you then go and find a time that was faster from another source. If I searched for another source, I'm sure I could find a GT2 time that was faster than the Murcielago's Sport Auto time.

I love Lambo's, but you really are extremely myopic and biased. You said a bunch of things in your original post that were totally erroneous. And then when someone calls you on it, you say "Oh, I meant something else"..."Ohh..that's not what I meant". It just so happens that your original post was skewed towards the Lambo's in EVERY way.

First off, in my original post, i didnt say anything that was erroneous. They say it is a Turbo S, i didnt know a Tiptronic is a Tiptronic S.

The times i posted are ALL SPORT AUTO TIMES. I took the Times from track-challange. Not some kid on the internet.

COming up with silly excuses like for 500.00 your putting a chip in the Gt2. Wow. For 1500.00 ill slap a 200shot on the Murci. Stupid arguement. Or for a couple grand, ill throw an exhaust on the Murci, will make up that same 65hp you got in the Porsche, and lose 100pds of weight.

I love the gt2, awesome car, But it is not the fastest, like some of you make it out to be. Now that you have no arguement, its time to go to the CGT, which inmo, is an all around dissapointment. Whether it be looks, or performance.

One thing that any Lambo will always have over any Porsche, 10 years from now, the Gt2 will be just another old Porsche, while any Lambo will always be the coolest car on the road, whether or not its the fastest.

I don't really know to be honest. I meant to say that the Lambo has a lot more horsepower then the GT2 but the GT2 is much more agile than teh murci. A 760 has more hp than a c55, and the c55 handles much better than the 760. I don't sometimes my brain dies sorry.

Murcielago=7.50

But, Sport Auto tested an E-gear version of the Murci at:
7.43.5

Those numbers are right, but test results vary depending on condition. For example, a 2004 GT-2 was timed at Hockenheim, 1.11,6 s See http://www.einszweidrei.de/ for a comprehensive list with references to the magazine tests.

I'd say both cars are very fast and it would likely come down to the driver skill in any practical situation

Finally, someone with a level head.

It all comes down to what Y O U personally like the best for your particular preferences.

If you like a Porsche - you go and buy one.

If you like a Lambo - you go and buy one.

Or better yet - go buy both.

Lap times are just that - lap times.

If Y O U get more joy out of a Lambo go buy one. This being mainly a Porsche board you'll most likely not get the love you deserve or want.

Well, lets see the Gallardo ran 1.11.8 at Hockenheim also.

Dont see how you get excited over a completely stripped out race car, beating a full street car.

perhaps PRICE had something to do with it!

(completely stripped out race cars don't come with airbags, vanity mirrors, ashtray, lighter, Radio/CD player, air-conditioning, fully carpeted interior, power steering, xenon lights, headlight wash system, turn signals, license plates, ABS brakes... all of which are on the RS)

Power:
Gallardo 500 PS
GT3RS 381 PS

Round Time Nuerburgring:
Gallardo 7.52 min
GT3RS 7.47 min

Price strikes again!

Not much difference in price between the two, and lets say the Gt3Rs wins at the track, the Gallardo is far better looking, and faster in a straightline. The Murcielago will eat the Gt3RS for lunch.

oh.. i forgot to mention the Power Windows, Electric side mirrors, electric door locks (+FOB), & Alarm system.

Hey allanlambo... plz don't get me wrong, both the Murci and the Gallardo are my dream cars. I love looking at them and dreaming about them.. BUT I don't own one for the following reasons:

1. Price: where I am at these cars go for...
Murci US$226,000/-
Gallardo US$173000/-
GT3RS US$103,000/-
Major $ saving on the RS and sure offers a lot of (track) punch for the buck (ref lap figures above).

2. Running Cost: B6 vs V10 vs V12, & number of 996's on the road vs Lambo's... need i say more!

3. I am a simple man, I prefer a wolf in sheep's clothing.. so I'd rather drive a "pumped up VW", than an italian space rocket that turns heads at every corner.

4. Common yet rare... as common as it is to see a 911, how often have you spotted an RS?... any of the four generation RS's ('72 till today)

5. The mere thought of a (production) naturally aspirated 3.8L 6 cylinder 911 out-lapping all "production" cars (except for the Enzo, CGT, SLR & Ford GT) including Zonda, Murcielago, Koenigsegg, Garalldo, Modena, AM Vanquish.. somehow turns me on!... and.. did I mention the PRICE!!

Some lap figures from BBC's Top Gear (from a host that hates P-cars):

Carrera GT 1.19.8
SLR 1.20.9
FordGT 1.21.9
Modena CS & GT3RS 1.22.3
Murcielago 1.23.7
Zonda 1.23.8
Koenigsegg 1.23.9
Garalldo 1.25.8

Cheers...

Falgo, if price is that much of an issue to you, buy a Z06. The Top Gear tests are inconclusive as they test cars at all different times in different conditions, such as the Gallardo being tested in the wet.

Myself, personally, i love Porsche, but would never buy an RS. Plain, dull, boring. A nice decked out 996TT or Gt2.

In reality, the Gallardo is just as fast on track as Gt3RS, faster in a straightline, looks much better, and wont blend in with the other 7,000,000 996's out there. If the running costs are as good as my Diablo(6 years= Oil,filter, tires, Thats it), than in my book, it is LEAGUES away from the Porsche.
