Emissions question (after clearing CEL)
I have a bad gas cap which was throwing a CEL light for the gas tank/evap system. I replaced the gas cap and had a local shop in Vegas clear the CEL. I then drove the car about 10 miles and went to get my emissions done for my registration renewal (in Las Vegas, NV). All they do is pull into the OBDII sensor port and run the car for 30 seconds. So the result is that the car got REJECTED (not a pass or a fail...just means the computer didn't give the smog machine enough readings). I guess the tech said that the car didn't have enough have enough miles and cycles because the computer was reset. He adviced me to drive around for 100 miles and come back. So I put another 130 miles on the car and smog it again and it was REJECTED again. The tech just said keep driving the car and get more cycles on it. My question is...how many cycles and/or miles do I need to drive after having the computer reset before the OBDII will let me smog the car???
They just cleared the CEL light. I did have to replace my MAF about 300 miles ago (I wonder if that needs more miles). I'll go ahead and put another 100 miles on and see what happens.
