Price Check - 03 Turbo - 2500 miles

This car is from Plano, Texas...same car?
I've seen it on Ebay a few times now, and it seems like the perfect car for me (especially since I have OCD concerning miles on a car when I purchase...after its in my hands I put a lot of it haha)
Anyone know any stories on this car? What they want and what it will sell for may be 2 different stories, but hey...its a buyers market!

If its the car I'm thinking of then what makes you think all of a sudden he is going to be willing to let the car go for much less....I wouldnt be surprised if he has spent over 1k on ebay auctions alone. My gut feeling is that he isnt hurting for the money, good luck nevertheless.

He's a buddy of mine. He's severely upside down yet not in trouble. He's not going to sell it for 60K or even 65K. I know because I've already tried 5 times. He has over 90K in the car with a lien so he can't. Indeed the car is nice however, after replacing an X50 motor (58K!) and tranny (14K!),thank goodness it was under warranty, I'm a bit leary of such a low miles car especially with the CPO running out in a couple of months. It doesn't have enough miles on it to even know if anything is going to happen. It also bothers me it is this old and has been sitting most of its life. By the way mine was a "one owner" bone stock car when the failures occurred.
I'm going to go with one that has proved itself a bit more. A 15K or so P-car is nothing when it comes to miles but most likely if anything was going to happen it would by then.
Go look at the one that Hendrick in NC has. It is a 5K+miles car and has CPO warranty out until 11/2012 if you purchased it in the next few weeks. It can be had for 70K but you had better move quickly...
Ted.

Yeah, I saw that car over a year ago when I was looking.... parked on the grass in a small backyard with wood fencing? Many, many times on ebay.
It's been over a year. He may eventually get his number- just 2-3 years late!
To the OP. 70k isn't an unreasonable number for ultralow miles.... but you are buying 'collector miles' not 'assurances that the car will be trouble free'.

Yep, exactly... And when you put on several thousand more miles its going to drop like a rock down to where the rest of the '02 X50's are/will be. This, and what I described above, is why I didn't/haven't bought it. Now that all being said, he's a good guy and the car is immaculate. I feel sorry for him. But just like "ard" said, don't let the miles lead you to believe everything is going to be ok. 996 '03's had lots of issues. Porsche should have been sued for all of the motor/transmission issues these cars have experienced. The good thing is they've replaced them without hesitiation WHILE under warranty. You could easily end up with 90K in the car and have it only be worth in the 50's if something goes wrong. I think 65K would be a good buy, 70K is pushing it...
Also, make sure and check the tires. If he didn't over inflate there is a good chance they could have flat spots from sitting despite them being brand new, been there done that... I would get Steve Fordham at Park Place to PPI it too. His number is 1-888-818-5935.
Frankly, I would get a ticket to Dallas and go drive it. Not all X50's run the same. I just passed on one in Dallas recently because of this. It was a dog. The fact it has sat so much in the last 6-years bugs me. P-cars like and need to be driven.
Just my two cents
