BlueRanger is infamous around these parts
New owner top-off question.

I have an 02 996TT (40k current miles) and car had last oil change at Champion Porsche.

They used Pennzoil 5W/40 1700 miles ago.

Here are my questions:

1)All I could find is Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 is this OK?

2)My level dropped two bars in 1700 miles is this normal?

3)I read somewhere you should keep at one bar under the full line?

4)Final question is 1 bar equal to 1 quart?

Thank you!

Not sure about mixing brands. I'm sure you'll get all kinds of arguments about this....Mobil1 TD 5W-40 is OK to use.
1 bar is about .25 Qt. There are some hypotheses about keeping the level below the top bar, but no data to back this up.

oil consumption

Porsche factory books:
"Oil consumption........ Max. 1.0l/1000km"

Thanks for your reply Statman.

Any others on the adding Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 to the pennzoil?

Or should I try to order the Pennzoil?

Also what brand should I change to for my first oil change?

I checked on the Bob The Oil Guy website....apparently mixing brands is not a huge issue...

I've mixed....and lived to tell about it.

:-)

In theory, if both are synthetic, should be fine. If you are nervous, pull it out a little sooner than you might otherwise...but I'd just leave it alone.

Good luck.

BTW, I run TD Mobil 1 5w-40 and the car is very happy.

Thanks for replies...

Is the TD Mobil 1 5W-40 the same as the Mobil 1 5W-40 Turbo Diesel Truck oil I was able to find?

Are two bars below the fill line too low to wait for the next oil change?

Sorry for the concerns but I really worry about this 6 year old car that I paid cash for, even though my wife said..." No way you are paying that much money for a 2002 car! "

I did it anyway .
