Looking at their shape, as they are curved like an airplane wing, it could be that the turbulance created by the low pressure point under the curvature of the element, cuases the air to spin, creating a mini todnado effect that continues throughout the arch of the wheel channel all the way down into the intercooler cavity, where in turn it is forcefully seperated by the fins on the intercooler into 528 little tornadoes which, ionize the air passing through the intercooler. Downstream the tornados individually escape through out the relatively small opening in the rear pumper creating a low pressure point, resulting in more downforce, less drag, significantly better launches due to weight transfer to the rear wheels, better air diffusion from under the car and improved exhaust gas scavenging resulting in lower emissions, better gas milage, less hail and improved libido of the driver.
