Toyos RA 1 Quick Question

Well, about time i jump the gun and get some R comps /good tire !

I haven't driven the car i just put on 305/35/18 on the rear
I'm still waiting for my 245/40/18 fronts

The reason i went with this set is because of Tom ( thank you very much in your insight full post) but i have an issue.

It seems like the rear tires are rubbing slightly in the inner plastic fender wells.

Has anyone encounter this problem and solved this issue ?

More camber ? These on are stock wheels for a 996 tt.

Thanks in advance.

Enrique

More camber will make it worse. You can add a spacer plate between the wheel and hub that should help.

Steve Eguina is infamous around these parts
With stock wheels I wouldn't think the 305's would rub the inside fender lining.

Since you said it was only rubbing slightly I would think a spacer of about 7 MM should cure the problem. If not you may have to much negative camber.

Good Luck!

More -camber actually makes it better. The primary, and most difficult area to reduce rubbing is below the mid point of the tire - where the hose attaches to the turbo, mostly on the driver side, right? Bend back the inner fender liner brackets. I actually removed the driver side bracket and tied the liner back. Passenger side is easier. Just bend back the liner bracket. With 335's on the rear, you also need to soften and reshare the plastic inner fender liner where it rubs higher up. about 1/2 of extra room up there will fit 335's. Good luck!

Thanks everyone.

Well I want to go with the minimum amount of spacers required. I was thinking of going with a 2 or 3 mm spacer. Would I have to get new lug bolts ? Anyone have any experience with that small amount of spacer?. Thanks again !
