transmission removal problem

I'm in the process of replacing a clutch..the mechanic calls me and says that the transmision was worked on before and some noob put the clutch fork pin in backwards the last time it was worked on. I bought the car used and it has 55k now.. so I guess its possible it has had clutch work. The question is .. how do you remove the clutch fork pin if the threaded side is 180 deg out?
The wrench says he may have to remove engine as well.

How much are you paying for the clutch job?

The book time description includes dropping the motor.
