Question ??? Blending paint

Hey guys,

I am new here to the board.... Nice place to meet enthusiasts who understand the neurotic madness of porsche owners....

My situation: I just purchased my second Porsche 8/13/04, a speed yellow tt cab... One week later my litronics were pried out.. Ouch!!!! Yes, from the parking garage where my office is in prestigious Coral Gables. Now my car is at the body shop Countach in the gables.

My question: Geico my insurance company, would not authorize the repainting of the fenders instead they authorized blending...

What can I expect in blending vs repainting.

thanks,
Vincent

You should be fine. Blending is a technique where your shop will probably wet sand the fender damage, paint the front bumper cover, and then clearcoat all areas affected. The attempt is to simply put the same thickness of all finishes onto the car, including color and clear.

I had the same thing happen to my C4S in the Gables. I had my lights replaced @ Countach and found their work to be top notch. They can be a bit slow, but they do get the job done well.

You may want to ask about the headlight alarms they sell via Sonic Boom, the sound guys for The Collection. The system consists of a motion detector installed somewhere in the headlight area. I think they're about $200. I had it done, and it does give some peace of mind.

Oh, and I also refrain from parking my Porsche in the Gables, if and when possible.

Good Luck!
