I wanted to get some ideas on perfomance mods for my 996 turbo. I have ben doing alot of research but i wanted views of other porsche owners. Is there a company better to use, what are the main differences you see, and is it better to go and have say one of the companies do the mods or to do things piece by piece somewhere else
thanks for the help guys

I found that the German tuners are pricey...
I lived the Stage IV kit on my X50 that I bought from Imagine Auto. Give Stephen there a call
KPV (Stage IV) and Sean (RUF 550) got overlapping dyno graphs...one had like 5HP more, the other like 7 TQ more (at peak of course)...Other than that, curves are overlapping :-O

I have a Gemballa steering wheel and body kit - the were very responsive and their product good. Ditto RUF for the foot pedals. GIAC for the ECU upgrade - they were outstanding. It appears that all of the 6speed sponsors are good 90% of the time with every once in a while someone will complain.
Lately, I have just been buying upgrades from all (and there is a lot of them) the guys on this board that are taking their cars back to stock to resell them. Got the GT2 Wing, ROOCK wheels, center caps, and headers from guys here. Their lightly used, you save 50%, and you know they're good.
Happy Moding

which part to choose
i think each tuner has some advantages and disadvantages. Clearly with some euro tuners the price/euro factor can be troubling. But i must say that i was always beyond impressed with ruf and their customer service. When many guys purchased the h and r springs and had problems there was no one to fix the problem. With ruf a phone call will have a tech fly in if you are a customer. I also think that you need to define your goals. For some the idea of a constant hp quest is alluring and for this you should have a local tuner as support rather than shipping your car cross country every time there is a problem. I think the guys at Giac after established a great dealer network where info is shared equally between Todd at Evo, PES, Imagine, performance outfitters, Awe ect. I had their ship in the car for two years and found it perfect. Tony at PES was first class and never missed a step in advising me what to do.
As for Gemballa. I have spoken to Heinz many times and find him evasive, lackluster, and arrogant. Perhaps that attitude works for his clients but I would never buy from him. I would rather special order the parts from germany. Don't get me wrong, if you do your homework you will see what parts appeal to you. For some it's the cargrahic pedals and for others it's the ruf pedals. The same holds true for body parts. I also think that some parts will hold their value better then others. I have always had good luck selling ruf parts on this board and feel that the price difference can slighly made up on resale. Also don't forge that many of the parts are made in the same factory just with different designs or specs. Check these specs and see what works for you.
