Your experiance/comments about the EVO kit
Hi guys,
I'm pretty new to the board and just getting my Porsche 996 Turbo shipped to Sweden.
I'm already looking at the EVO kits that's around the net. I personally have driven a 996 Turbo a few times before, but never owned one until now. I would appreciate if some members could share a bit of experience/info/think-about etc about the EVO Kits. Also, is there any company in Europe who is selling kits like this?
I have been reading a few testimony's about the EVO 600 kit and it's looking great, but what else is needed to change on a stock turbo to have a kit like this?
Thanks in advanced and looking forward to your comments!

Hi Swed,
Welcome to the 6speed forum. You have stumbled across a fantastic source of information to help you with your car. Some of the information is conflicting and everyone here has their own opinion (and motive). The forums are well moderated so blatantly false information is quickly corrected. People posting have had good experiences and bad experiences with their projects and this will color their posts. This is part of the challenge in finding good data to help you make your choices.
Before you buy the first attractive kit you see, I recommend that you first define your goals in terms of how you plan to drive the car: Do you want to maintain the same overall balance and driveability it has from the factory or do you have a specific area that is a priority? For example, will it be a street legal car, track only, or both? Do you want to set the car up for road racing, autocross, 1/4 mile drag racing, high velocity highway racing, or overall top speed? Whichever goal you choose will compromise another type of driving to some extent. Most of us want to keep the overall balance that it has from the factory which is possible. This car can do everything well, but to exceed in one particular area you must compromise another.
Get to know your fellow countryman Szpet. He is a few steps ahead of you and will soon have his newly modified car on the road.
Good luck!
Chris

Your other question, to achieve 600 crank hp you will need the following upgrades: DME (ecu, computer) programming, intake, exhaust, larger turbos, diverter valves, spark plugs and 5bar FPR (fuel pressure regulator). Realize that the stock clutch will not last long at 600hp unless you drive like an old lady.

I wrote that long response but did not answer your questions! In Europe your choices are FVD, RUF and 9ff. Not many here on 6 speed use RUF, I think because RUF may be too conservative for the money invested. 9ff is also not popular here only because they are fairly unknown...we have never had a reliable retailer in the USA for them. I have a 9ff exhaust and think that it is fantastic but if was very difficult and expensive to obtain. FVD has been popular here on 6speed for years. When the Euro became stronger than the USD, I think FVD popularity decreased and about that same time more US vendors appeared, but recently FVD dropped their tuning prices and popularity improved. Currently I think the US vendors will give you the best performance and the best price. Making a decision on what hardware and whose programming is tricky as there are so many options.
