Do I need spacers with aftermarket wheels?

I got stock wheels for now. I really like the look of having 15mm spacers, so I was thinking of getting them. However, eventually I want to get some nice wheels on the car. I know that this is a "dum" question but are different offsets readily available for the 996tt? I'm not gonna be looking to break the bank with some one of a kind racing/show rims. Basically I also want to make sure that if I'm not gonna need the spacers later, I might as well just put that money towards the new wheels.

with correct widebody offset, you won't need spacer for aftermarket wheels.

I used 7mm and worked just fine.

Properly sized wheels should not need them.
