Traffic Violation Question...
I know this is kind of off topic but was wondering if I can get some help:
Last week my gf was at this intersection ready to make a right turn, and there're couple pedestrians who just started walking onto the crosswalk from the other side, when my gf made the right turn the pedestrians haven't even reached the center divider. A cop pulled her over and gave her a ticket for failure to yield to pedestrians.
Are you supposed to yield as soon as the pedestrians step onto the crosswalk, or after they've crossed the center divider? I've heard both versions but not sure which is correct. My gf is thinking about fighting the ticket so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I guess my gf was just unlucky cuz I from what I see everyday in LA, 99.99% of the motorists would make the turn if the pedestrians are still on the other side before even reaching the center, and I haven't seen one cop had any problem with it.
in cali you have to stop whenever they're in the crosswalk.
By the way, even if that weren't the case, she would have no luck fighting the ticket. You will always lose when it's your word against the officer's.

In NY you are supposed to do your best to avoid them....when I went out to Cali on a business trip, I almost plowed right over pedestrians!
My Californian friend thought I was insane...
haha
I did finally adapt without killing anyone...

I know what you mean, whenever I'm in NY on a biz trip I feel that the motorists are actually targetting the pedestrians!!!

Yeah that's true, unless the officer doesn't show up...but 99.9999% of the time they do!
