Looking far new stereo,ipod,gps unit

I have finally decided to replace the questionable stereo (stock) in my car. Any recommendation of which brands and model to purchase. I'm looking to replace speakers as well. I want to have gps, ipod integration as well. This is going in my 01 996tt...

Im in Orange County,CA so any shops for installation would be appreciated as well.

Thanks,

CAA

I have a Pioneer that blends in nicely. It was important to me to get rid of the stock garbage and also not have hideous neon blue or green lights on the stereo. I highly recommend adding an amp to run everything. Believe it or not the stock speakers are pretty good quality (a new stereo and amp will prove this). I would add a sub or two which will fit behind the backs seats unnoticeable, that is the only way to have a full, balanced sound. The sound quality is excellent. BTW I'm sure I have offended many of you by adding 50lbs, but I spend too much time in traffic not to have the best sounding system available. It also plays movies in 5.1 surround for my passenger.

jmenge is infamous around these parts
Where did you get the trim bezel/plate? Very nice install btw. Did you run the stock speakers with aftermarket amps? If so how much power to each?

The install was done by Signature Audio in Scottsdale. Very high end shop and I've known the owner for quite a few years. The faceplate is actually made of wood and painted with textured paint. The flash from my camera exposes any flaws. Normal daylight it blends in with everything else and appears to be plastic. Stock speakers are fine. Its been a while but I think my amp is a Diamond Audio 5 channel 1000 watt.
