Sounds interesting.

I have 59K on my car and stock turbo's and my car still runs hard.
Yeah, I ran more boost than I let on.

No idea the WHP. I had tight 1bar wastegate actuators, and modified the wastegate control solenoid and lines to allow for higher boost than the programming. Ran 21-23psi on the street, and according to my AFRs had plenty of fuel to do it.

Even "off the island" the K16s are a sturdy little turbo, and if you keep the air cool they can be very effective.

Just curious, but don't they max out at 1.2bar??

Efficiency-wise, yes. They'll still make power above that, but they're not technically rated to spin that fast and it may affect longevity.

Maybe 9 quarts of oil have something to do with it

The other difference with the 911 is they're not stuffed under a hood with all the other heat generators, they're in an exposed area under the car.

Yep. I changed my oil often, always cooled them down, made sure that my AFR were ok, and had huge intercoolers and insulated dual snorkel ram-air keeping both the intake and charge air cool. Worked for me...

Back to the OP - the stock turbos can take a lot of abuse, and I haven't heard of any failures.

Wanna give us more info on your old setup? I'm very curious about it.

Jimmer, me too! Please tell us more about your setup. Did you have intercoolers? What kind of AFR gauge did you use? What kind of boost controller; or did you just turn the actuator nuts forward? What are the options on the wastegate springs?

I don't have money to do many upgrades, and I also kind of like the idea of maxing out the K16's as much as I can.

Sorry for all the questions,
Ryan

I was replacing my spark plugs and noticed oil on my drivers side intercooler piping? So maybe mine's going? is that a sign that my seals are going?
I noticed the same thing when I first got my car. I had a loose connection. Make sure the i.cooler hoses are all firmly seated and that the wire circle clips are "clicked" in. Oil in this area is pretty normal from what I hear. scott.

As stated above, it is normal to have some oil in the induction pipes, especially noticed with turbos as the forced induction can make it weap... Just tighten the clamps on the piping to ensure you don't have any leaks... The presence of oil with turbos is bad when its coming from your exhaust....
