Somewhere above 120 mph , I would think any HP advantage a 993 Turbo S has would be negated by it's less areodynamic shape.

I had a 993 TT, it would take a stock 996TT no problem. I dont think he knew how to drive to be honest.

The 993tt is 4.5sec 0-60 the same numbers for the 996tt. in my option he did not know how to drive that car.

4.5 seconds is very conservative for both cars. The best time for the 993TT was by Motor Trend magazine at 3.7 seconds. The worst was Road and Track at 3.9 seconds.

Here's what the mags had for the 993TT:

Motor Trend, Sept 1997:

993 TT: 0-60: 3.7
993 TT S: 0-60: 3.6, 0-100: 8.9

Car & Driver, July 1995 amd July 1997:

993 TT: 0-60: 3.7, 0-100: 9.4, 0-150: 20.5 (?)
993 TT S: 0-60: 3.7, 0-100: 8.8, 0-150: 23.4

Road and Track, July 1995:

993 TT: 0-60: 3.9, 0-100: 9.9

Road and Track also tested the Ruf 993 Turbo R. The author told me they recorded a 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. However, that was not published because it wasn't what they were comparing in the tests.

The '97 911 Turbo S only had 424 hp and weighed between 3308-3490 lbs (the two published weights I saw).

Was the Turbo S you ran modified?

I currently own both models (with fabspeed exhausts) and while the 993tt feels faster at lower revs (and seems to rev quicker), I believe the 996tt is (slightly) faster once on boost. I have never timed them back to back (i.e. in same whether conditions), but subjectively, it does appear that way, at least for my vehicles.

A lot of you are quoting 0-60 times.

Marx said he was racing from a rolling start of various speeds. 0-60 times really don't apply here. Rolling start acceleration will vary depending on the gear each car is in and when the power comes on.

A few years back, as soon as the 450HP package was offered, two of my friends raced their 993tt's. One was stock and the other had the 450HP option on it. The driver of the uprated turbo was surprised that both of the cars were running neck to neck, from a standing start all the way to over 200kmh.
I don't find it hard to believe that a 996tt TIP ran away from a 450HP 993tt.

I wouldn't mess with Ruf Racer's car.... it will make a 996 Turbo seem lame.
