Um,

guy has a ferrari with good BMC and K&N experience. Says the oem on the tt is better.

What is the problem..... We had a thread a while back showing the amount of junk getting to your engine ...the stock blocks more. So, if you change the stock every 10k miles or more...you will likely have the best of all worlds and no one here has problems affording filters, so it is not a money thing, it is a power/engine safety issue.

I use oem. Why: I want my engine clean. Simple. I find them via google/amazon as needed. No issues.

I fully acknowledge it may sound like "complete and utter bollocks" but I simply can't hit 1.2/1.4 bar with anything but my OEM paper air filter and simply switching the air filter makes that difference with my highly modded set up

Maybe not the filter, but it is well documented that certain aftermarket intakes cause this problem exponentially more than stock.

Kevin (UMW) had some pictures of the difference between what he saw as residue left on turbo compressor wheels when using the OEM paper filters as opposed to the aftermarket "new and improved flow and performance" ones. He didn't want to get into the discussion because he is also a vendor and that would be knocking another vendor's product.....but the fact remains that he saw cleaner turbos with less problems when using the OEM filters.

Unless you're reading that from a real boost gauge, all you're seeing on the stock digital gauge is an interpolation of the sensor data giving you a ballpark estimate of what the boost would be. Nothing more.

Maybe switching filters alters the MAF data due to air flow differences, but it's simply not possible that an air filter can give you more boost.
