Unfortunately he sounds frustrated with the problems and quality of the units that I assume are being made in China. Props to Edwin for not compromising quality and holding out for a good working product because they would easily be able to make a quick buck because I bet they'd sell like hotcakes. Rep points to you Edwin!
Thanks for the kind words Scott. Long story short... the 996 nb LED tailight has been a nightmare. We had a few people return their LEDs (one was damaged during shipping) and lots of 996 nb guys having issues with hyperblink, lights blinking at the same time, throwing codes, etc. I have to say the 996 nb guys have been very understanding and patient and I believe one of them has found the solution to fix the problem (have to replace the flasher).

The last thing I want is to have 500 sets made and have every turbo/C4s owner have that issue. My plans to find a manufacturer to make these have stalled not b/c of this but also, I've heard from another source that someone is already making the LED tails for the widebodies. In addition, it seems a lot of owners want quality products at a cheap price (<$500) and if I did that, I would have to sell A LOT to recoup my cost.

In the meantime, I'm researching doing a DIY LED rear tailight on my car to test it out. I apologize for not being able to follow through with this but financially and logistically, I can't do it at this moment.

I was just told that someone is making a set. I don't know who exactly. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same company that made the ones for the 996 NB

Sorry to revive this, but I imagine the development work on this has stalled?

We have decided to not go forward with this endeavor b/c the cost-benefit did not work out (for us).

It can not be that costly? I am certain 10 people would cover and cost and give you a profit? I am willing to pay upfront and I am certain 9 others would as well??

Hey Rob,

The problem is the tooling (paying for that upfront) and then I have to buy a minimum of 500 sets. Even at $100 a set (if that low at my cost), that's $50k and I don't think I can sell that many.

I agree with rob, if u buy 500 and the first 100 pay all your costs you now 400 at full profit and with 8000+ turbos/gt2's i think u could sell them quick.
