95k and going strong
congrats. There is one locally that has 100k as a daily driver, and there is one on this forum that is near 200k miles as a daily driver.
I had a friend stationed in Germany who had a Turbo and drove it on the autobahn daily at 100-150 mph for three years. He racked up 60k miles on those three years including 100 laps at the ring. sold the car to another guy who as of 1.5 years ago had put another 30k miles on it. I am sure that one is at over 100k now with most of that at 100+ mph.

I have heard that Porsche has/had a Boxster style motor on a dyno for I want to say 15+ yrs running at 7000 rpm, they only stopped it for oil changes. Will someone please correct me if I am mistaken?

Congratulations to all high mileage owners! This is definitely one reason I felt so comfortable picking the 996TT as my reliable supercar, and it's awesome to hear owner reports such as these.
fabulous! I am just coming to 60kmi and the clutch is starting to chatter a tad. can anyone chime in on their clutch life experience? thanks for any and all feedback! i'm stock except unichip and sport-tech 60mm exaust + JIC cross for chassis...
Great news...and it dovetails with t2's account of his high mileage. Sure makes a fellow feel that he's bought something that has some longevity built into it. Love to see a picture of your car as well as t2's.
Paulie: Wouldn't you think that if Porsche actually did run a car for that many years at 7K rpm....that it would be written up in some car magazine??? I mean...what a fantastic story and photo op that would make insofar as free advertising for Porsche. I dont' see Porsche missing an opportunity like this....so I have a tendency to discount the story.

OK I have found the source & asked him about the story he told me 17yrs ago. Sam said that Porsche used the SC/RS motor back in 1983 for longevity tests for part's & fluid R & D. He recalls that they would run the motor 24/7 at redline without even changing the oil, they would recirculate the oil. Sam was not sure of how long the motor would last before a part would fail.
I blew by 218,000 miles this past weekend - 2003 X50 - bone stock. It's by far the most capable, most reliable, most fun, most confidence inspiring car I have ever seen, heard of or driven. It still puts a smile on my face twice a day when I drive it and also when I look at it before getting in to drive it. Yes it sees winters with snow, track days and everything in between. Keep driving it - it's one of the easiest way to take care of it!! T2
How do you like the Unichip? I'm about to go down the mod route. Any drawbacks(other than being limited by fooling the ECU) Before someone mentions that I should step away from the UC, I request that they direct me toward flashing software for the stock system. I'd like to purchase a base tune, then tweak the car as needed myself.
91k miles here. Original clutch, nothing major changed on the car. I'm changing the water pump this weekend, mine is a bit noisy.
