These cars just spoil you....
Me too. Thinking about mistresses is fun.
Yes and No.
These days, the 996 turbo is probably dollar for dollar, the best bang for the buck. To get into this type of car for $40k+ is incredible.
But, to compare the M3 to a turbo is not fair. Honestly, the turbo doesn't really match up to the M3, M5 or M6. An M3 to a Carrera S is a better comparison. But still, the new M3 with the DCT is a pretty quick car. The M5 (and I am a little biased as this is my new DD) with the right settings is a fast car also and under the correct conditions will give you a run for your money in your almost stock turbo. Plus, it has Navi, Blue tooth, Sat radio, etc, etc. The SMG is very fast and is almost idiot proof when running through the gears.
So, although I miss my turbo, I think the M's are equally impressive but can't really be compared to the turbos. And you can buy 2 used turbos for the price of 1 new M5, but you can buy used e60 M5's in the $40s as well these days.

One more for just how much fun a 996tt is ... I bought an X50 cab last year and just got it to a DE day about 2 weeks ago. I can't stop talking and thinking about it - as soon as the CPO warranty expires I'm in for the tune (ECU, Diverter valves, exhaust and intake.)
Doing the short shifter (997) upgrade this month and poutting on some Pagid's as soon as these pads are toast.
I just can't stop grinning ....

this is funny, we do take it for granted.
I have been hearing a lot about the new PDK in the carrera. In fact my CandD issue has the new Carrera with PDK beating the new M3 in the 1/4 mile with a 12.5 seconds. Anyway, I test drove one the other day and all I could think of was, when was the power going to come on. I kept on waiting for the car to go hard and it felt so slow. I still cannot believe that it can run 12's, if it does, then my car must be a top fuel dragster.

I couldn't even think about having a NA Porsche after the turbo. What a waste.
so NA might be good for my second car
I think I would take a gallardo simply because of the German reliability factor But a scud might be hard to pass up
