BHT, just out of curiosity...what do mean there were no transmissions at Porsche NA or in Germany. I realize what it means but WTF is someone supposed to do if they needed one. Some of the 04 and 05 models are still under factory warranty, you would think they would have these units on hand. Do they expect you to put in a THM400?

That's funny... I would prefer 3 on the tree! A more "classic" approach

Sorry to hear Todd. How many miles did you have on that tranny before it gave out? How much do you think one would cost? Hope you fix her as low $$$$ and better performance bro. With that tranny you went to TX mile and ran a nice top speed too, LOL

I too had a tip tranny replaced a few months ago. After call after call after call, I was able to find a shop that did a conversion to 6speed and they had one "lying" around.

Just curious, where in CA are you getting it rebuilt? what is the cost of the rebuild? what is the cost of the uninstall and reinstall of the transmission.

Good luck!

Art, it's no big deal. I had 38k miles on the stock tranny. You're right, at the Mile it slipped thru 3rd and most of 4th. Should be back together for under $4k with labor and shipping.

Really? How is that 6 speed conversion working out?

Mercedes Benz of Eldorado Hills. About $4k for all.

Not a bad deal at all. When she is ready I think you will fly much higher than that number as well as your 60-130 for sure

New pics of cooked parts!

The tranny is all fixed up and on it's way back to H_town. I'll let you know once it's re-installed and I take her for a run. Check out my cooked clutch plates. Enjoy.

So Todd, is the verdict that this could have been prevented if you had a upgraded TQ Conv? is it heat? maybe a bigger trans cooler?
