Option XSU Lowered Seat

I am looking to retrofit: code XSU lowered seat 10mm

I STFA and did not get a clear answer, is this an additional bracket? a different seat? a 1 hour job?

No response from several dealers on buying the parts for this, and I need a bit more clearance for a helmet.

I have no interest in GT3 seats, and hardback sports have even less headroom.

Thanks, Tom

Are you sure the sports seats have less headroom? I went from a 996 with regular (supple leather) seats to a 996tt with sports seats, and I easily sit an inch lower in the sports seats (which I love since I'm 6'4").

I'm pretty certain. I changed from supple to sport in my 993 and lost a good inch, and I looked in the 996 archive and it seemed to be the same. I would love to learn differently.

I'm 6'4" as well with a 33 inseam , so legroom is great, but headroom . . . not so much.

Well, maybe the situation is diffirent in the 996...I know it was in my experience. I would recommend finding a 996 with sports seats, and seeing what kind of room you have. Good luck.

In reviewing the parts catalog, it seems that there are different seats itself (or more accurately different seat components- back and seat bottom. If you look up the seat in the parts catalog, there are different seat components for the 'xsu' option.

Any dealership should be able to ID this- it is not in the seat mounting system, but rater the seat itself

Thanks Ard. That is a shame, I was hoping for a different bracket or something. I bet that it will be far more effective to go with recaro/sparco ect to find a seat that creates more headroom.

Thanks scottslaw, i will try to find a 996 in my area with sport seats, but i don't know of any
