stereo upgrade, man i am confused.

I keep reading about all the factory options and i am very confused.

I have 2001 with a single din radio with a 6 cd changer, i also have the DSP thing in the lower portion of the dash which seems to be related to the amp from what i read.

I don't think i have the Bose as people seem to say that it should be written bose on speakers cover. I also don't have the subwoofer in the back.

Now i also read about MOST, what are all these things for?

If i want to change my headunit, it seems like i have to keep the DSP unit. Is there any other way i can keep the amp working without buying an aftermarket one? I want to get rid of the DSP faceplate to use the space for something else.

Can someone please put some clarity on all the options that were available in these cars?

thanks a lot
